Data Governance/MDM Consultant

As a Data Management Consultant, you will be at the forefront of developing and implementing robust data governance frameworks, strategies, and master data solutions. Your role is pivotal in ensuring data quality, integrity, security, and compliance across the organization and for our valued clients. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will contribute to aligning data practices with organizational objectives and industry best practices.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop comprehensive data governance strategies, policies, and frameworks, aligning them with organizational objectives.
2. Define data governance roles, responsibilities, and processes to establish accountability and ownership within the organization.
3. Lead the implementation of data governance and master data management practices, ensuring alignment with client projects and organizational needs.
4. Establish and oversee data governance committees or working groups to drive decision-making and ensure effective governance initiatives.
5. Enforce data quality standards, validation rules, and profiling procedures to maintain accuracy and consistency.
6. Collaborate with data stewards and owners to resolve data quality issues and implement improvement plans.
7. Ensure compliance with data security and privacy regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, and industry-specific requirements.
8. Establish and maintain data catalogs, dictionaries, and metadata repositories to facilitate data discovery and understanding.
9. Develop and enforce data naming conventions and classification standards.
10. Conduct data governance training sessions to enhance data literacy and promote understanding of governance principles.
11. Increase awareness of data governance best practices and benefits among employees and stakeholders.
12. Perform data governance audits to assess compliance and identify areas for improvement.
13. Monitor data governance metrics and KPIs to track progress and effectiveness.
14. Collaborate with IT, legal, compliance, and business stakeholders to integrate data governance practices into existing processes and systems.

Qualifications and Skills:

1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or a related field.
2. Proven experience as a Data Governance Consultant or Manager, preferably in a consulting role.
3. Strong understanding of data governance principles, management best practices, and regulatory compliance.
4. Knowledge of data governance frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK or DCAM.
5. Familiarity with data governance tools and platforms.
6. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
7. Analytical mindset with a focus on problem-solving and process improvement.
8. Strong project management abilities, capable of managing multiple initiatives simultaneously.
9. Relevant certifications in data governance, data management, or related areas are a plus.
