Senior Data Analyst (Microsoft Cloud & Fabric)

This is a technical, customer-facing role responsible for end-to-end delivery of modern Cloud Data Platforms and Analytics solutions using Microsoft technologies.

The incumbent will lead technical engagements with clients, including architectural design, and implementation of scalable, secure, enterprise-grade data platforms that enable insights, analytics, and business intelligence.

You will guide solutioning across Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Fabric, and associated data services, ensuring effective adoption of cloud-native analytics patterns and governance best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Customer Engagement

  • Participate in technical customer engagements including solution workshops, discovery & assessments, architectural design, road-mapping, scoping, estimation, and proof-of-concepts.
  • Participate in technical pre-sales activities to articulate solution value, design choices, deployment options, and recommend best practices.
  • Advocate for modern data architecture principles like Data Lakehouse, real-time analytics, event-driven architectures, and API-first integration.
  • Engage with stakeholders (business & IT) to translate business use cases into scalable data platform solutions.

Architecture & Design

  • Own the architecture design for Cloud Data Platforms using Microsoft Azure and Fabric services, covering storage, ingestion, transformation, serving layers, security, and governance.
  • Design and govern data lake / lakehouse, data warehouses, semantic models, and analytics datasets.
  • Ensure architectural decisions consider security, compliance, DR/BCP, networking, high availability, observability, performance, and cost optimization.

Platform Development & Delivery

  • Guide implementation of data ingestion, ETL/ELT, transformation, orchestration pipelines, leveraging native services and frameworks.
  • Oversee development of analytics layers, data products, dashboards and self-service BI environments for enterprise reporting and insights.
  • Drive modernization of legacy data estates into cloud-native platforms.

Governance, Compliance & Security

  • Define and enforce data governance, metadata management, data quality, and security frameworks.
  • Partner with security and compliance teams to implement role-based access controls, encryption, auditing, and policy enforcement.
  • Drive adoption of data cataloging and governance tools to ensure discoverability and trust.

Team & Knowledge Leadership

  • Mentor and guide data engineering, analytics, and DevOps teams.
  • Promote reusable architectural patterns, accelerators, and best practices.
  • Represent the organization as a technical authority in client discussions, workshops, and design forums.

Desired Technical Skills

Microsoft Cloud & Analytics Platforms

  • Microsoft Azure: Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL / Managed Instance, Azure Databricks, Azure Cognitive Search.
  • Microsoft Fabric: OneLake, Data Engineering in Fabric (Pipelines, Spark), Data Warehouse in Fabric, Real-Time Analytics, Power BI integration, governance via Fabric services.
  • Power BI: Premium semantic models, dashboards, report lifecycle, security integration.
  • Azure Governance & Security: Azure Policy, Blueprints, RBAC, Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), Key Vault.

Data Platform & Architecture

  • Data Lake / Lakehouse, Data Warehouse & MPP design patterns.
  • ETL/ELT orchestration using ADF, Fabric pipelines, Databricks, or similar frameworks.
  • Data modelling (star schema, snowflake), metadata management, data quality frameworks.
  • Real-time data streaming / event ingestion frameworks (e.g., Event Hubs, Kafka, Fabric streaming).

Development & Tools

  • Programming & scripting: SQL, Python, DAX (Power BI), potentially Spark/Scala.
  • Infrastructure as Code & CI/CD: ARM/Bicep, Terraform, Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
  • Monitoring & logging dashboards for reliability & performance.

Architecture & Best Practices

  • Enterprise architecture standards, solution patterns, reference architectures.
  • Cloud cost optimization, performance tuning, operational excellence frameworks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Data Engineer Associate, Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer, or equivalent.
  • Experience with multi-cloud or hybrid data platforms (AWS, GCP, Snowflake) is a plus.
  • Prior consulting or customer-facing solution architecture experience.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in data platform architecture, cloud solutions, or analytics technology leadership roles.
